The Donna Louise Trust

The Donna Louise provides a lifeline to hundreds of families across Staffordshire and South Cheshire who are facing every parent’s worst nightmare, the heart-breaking knowledge that they will almost certainly outlive their child. We provide specialist care and support services for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, due to illness or injury, from birth until they no longer need us. Our services are free of charge and we rely hugely on the kindness and generosity of the local community to make this possible.

We’re a registered charity mainly financed by voluntary contributions. Our care services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days and cost £4.5m a year to deliver. There is no charge to families using the service. We rely on generous support to fund the important work we do and without those donations we simply wouldn’t exist.

We work alongside families to help them identify how we can support them in the care of their child or young person. We provide the care and support that they and their families need, wherever and whenever they need it – at the hospice in Trentham, or in their own home.

We often fail to think about the impact a child’s illness can have on the whole family, who often themselves provide constant care around the clock. But with the help of the dedicated, specialist team at The Donna Louise none of our families need to go through this alone.

Every moment a child spends with us is precious. We tailor our package of care to provide the best possible care and support, always shaped by the changing needs of the children and families that we serve, so that they feel informed supported and involved, to a level that suits their individual medical, emotional and spiritual needs.

Our overarching aim is to bring our families a sense of normality, so often taken for granted by us all, to help them remember that they are parents first and foremost and carers second, which is sometimes forgotten or overlooked.

Don’t forget, if you sign up to take on the Potters ‘Arf you are entitled to a FREE running vest. Please email hello@thedonnalouise.org for more information!
