The 155th Annual General Meeting of the Society took place on Monday 7 December 2009. The the AGM allowed members to vote and discuss various topics about the Society's financial year.

The official turnout was ratified by scrutinisers Howsons Electoral Services and saw a record turnout of 24.15%.

David Webster, Chief Executive of The Hanley commented

“I’m extremely pleased to see our level of customer engagement at the top end of all Societies. The AGM is an important part of our member engagement and in these difficult economic times it's a positive sign of the Society’s strong financial and mutual status."

For each vote cast by a member the Society pledged a donation to the Douglas Macmillan Hospice. The overall total raised was £750.00. Zoe Hollingsworth from Douglas Macmillan Hospice was presented with a cheque on the evening.
