Mutual Announces changes to its Board
 

Ted Turner, the Chairman of the local mutual Building Society, Hanley Economic will retire in October. Ted has served on The Hanley’s board for 11 years, 10 being as Chairman. Ted has provided a calm and measured approach alongside determination to do things the right way; "The Hanley Way".

Taking over the chairmanship will be Edward Jenner whose experience as a Non-Executive Director over the past 11 years and business acumen will mean he is well equipped for the challenges of in this new financial era.

Joining as a newly appointed Non-Executive Director is former Building Society Chief Executive Philip Dearing. Philip previously led Market Harborough Building Society and until recently was Managing Director of Mutual One, a company providing audit services to the Building Society Sector.

Speaking on Ted Turner’s retirement, David Webster Chief Executive commented,

“On a personal level I owe Ted a great deal, not just because he gave me the chance to join the best building society in the country, but also because his support and encouragement over the past 7 years has been unrelenting. I spend a fair bit of my time meeting other business people in North Staffordshire and I've never heard anything but praise and admiration for Ted.”

Commenting on the changes to The Hanley’s board,
