On Tuesday 26th June, Stoke Sentinel revealed its list of the top 100 businesses in Stoke-on-Trent, where a wide range of local companies formed the line-up.
Editor, Martin Tideswell, stated that the shortlist of businesses had been selected for a number of reasons including their current performance, innovation, importance to the local economy or what the management and staff have put back into their local community.
At Hanley Economic, we have a commitment to give back to our community in various ways. We have our Charity Saver Account which has allowed us to donate over £100,000 to Douglas Macmillan Hospice since it’s conception in 2013 as well as supporting 3 other Staffordshire based charities; Alice, Arch and YMCA who work in our local community by fundraising and volunteering with them.
As also acknowledged in the article, the Society is celebrating its best figures since 2007 with profits rising by more than 63% to £1.13 million and mortgage balances increasing from £291 million in 2016 to £302 million in 2017. CEO, Mark Selby said “Although the Society lends throughout England and Wales, we are very proud to be based in Stoke-on-Trent and we have been since our establishment in 1854. To be acknowledged for our commitment to our local community as well as our customers is fantastic.”
