INVESTORS IN EXCELLENCE

The Hanley is committed to achieving excellence in all that we do, which means investing in people and processes that combine to help us achieve our objectives. 

In order to demonstrate our commitment, in 2006 we joined with Midlands Excellence who operate a prestigious regional awards programme which is open to the private, public and voluntary sector organisations of all sizes.  The programme provides a rigorous assessment of performance and establishes strengths and opportunities to improve. The assessment is based on the EFQM Excellence Model (also known as the Business Excellence Model).  The model has 9 main sections grouped into two broad areas, Enablers (which are how our results are achieved) and Results (which cover what we’ve actually achieved). Our submissions are evaluated by a team of 4 trained assessors who also carry out a site visit before providing a comprehensive feedback report.

The benefits to us in producing a submission and having it assessed are:

• the opportunity to benchmark our performance against the world-class practices identified by the EFQM Excellence Model

• an assessment from an independent team highlighting our strengths and opportunities to continuously improve

In recognition of the society's achievements, we were successfully accredited as Investors In Excellence in 2006; this was reinforced in 2007 when we were awarded a special prize for 'Most Improved Organisation' at the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) awards.
