Staffordshire based mutual Hanley Economic Building Society has announced the lucky winner of its 2009 Win Your Mortgage Competition. The competition which promised to pay the winners mortgage each month for 12 months attracted over 1,200 entries. The winner was randomly picked from a hat by Mrs Kelly of Trentham on 4th March at The Hanley’s Festival Park Head Office.

The lucky winner was Mrs Valerie Harding from Shavington, Crewe. She commented

“I couldn’t believe it when I was told that I had won. It’s really great to know that I will have my mortgage paid for the next 12 months especially in the current climate. I was unfortunate to be made redundant at the end of December and have only just secured a new job.”

David Lownds, Head of Business Support at The Hanley added

“The focus of our competition was to raise awareness of our ability to lend money to mortgages customers and to firmly promote the message of being “Open for Mortgage Business”. The entries far exceeded our expectations and are significantly higher than previous years. Mrs Harding is a very worthy winner and I am pleased that we we’re able to reward someone whom this prize obviously means a great deal.”

As time of writing The Hanley currently has 3 of its mortgage products rated as national “Best Buys” by various independent organisations.
