The Society continually monitors interest rates across its range of mortgage and savings products to ensure they remain competitive and sustainable.
Following the Bank of England's decision on 5 November 2026 to increase Bank Base Rate by 0.25 percentage points, from 3.75% to 4.00%, members with mortgage or savings products directly linked to Bank Base Rate will see their interest rate increase by 0.25 percentage points from 1 December 2026. For savings accounts with an interest rate cap, we will increase your rate in line with the Bank Base Rate change, up to the maximum rate that applies to your account.
From the same date, the Society's Standard Variable Rate (SVR) will increase from 7.74% to 7.99%. Mortgage customers whose interest rate is linked to the Society's SVR will therefore also see an increase in their monthly mortgage payment.
Mortgage customers whose interest rate is linked to Bank Rate or the Society's SVR will receive a letter confirming their new interest rate and revised monthly payment.
The Society will also increase its other variable savings interest rates by at least 0.05 percentage points from 1 December 2026. As part of this change, we are ensuring that all of our savings accounts pay an interest rate of at least 1.00%.
As a mutual building society, we aim to balance providing fair and competitive rates for our savings members with maintaining a sustainable business that can continue to support our members and local communities over the long term.
We offer a wide range of savings accounts to suit different needs. If you would like to discuss the options available to you, please contact us and our team will be happy to help.
A full list of the new variable interest rates will be available on our website and in our branches before 1 December 2026.
