Strategic Branch Consolidation to Enhance Member Services – Hanley Branch Closure

Hanley Branch

The Society has announced plans to consolidate its branch network by closing its Hanley branch on Lamb Street at 12pm on Saturday, 7th March 2026. This decision follows a comprehensive review of member usage patterns and reflects the Society’s commitment to delivering services where they are most needed.

Over recent years, the Hanley branch has seen a significant decline in footfall, with most members choosing to access services through nearby branches or via digital and postal channels. By focusing resources on locations with higher demand and investing in modern banking solutions, the Society aims to provide an even better experience for its members.

Oliver Ward, Head of Operations, commented: “This is not a decision we have taken lightly. Our priority is to ensure that every member continues to receive the high level of service they expect from Hanley Economic. With several branches located close to Hanley and our growing range of online and postal services, we are confident that members will remain well supported.”

The nearest alternative branches include Festival Park, just 1.3 miles away, offering extended weekday hours and free on-site parking, and Newcastle, located 2.8 miles away. All services previously available at Hanley will continue to be offered at these locations.

Members can also take advantage of the Society’s secure online banking platform and dedicated support team for guidance on digital services. For those who prefer in-person assistance, colleagues at Festival Park and other branches are ready to help.

Importantly, the closure will not affect members’ accounts, products, or the security of their personal information. No action is required from members.

“Our goal is to adapt to changing needs while maintaining the personal service that sets us apart,” added Ward. “We thank our members for their understanding and look forward to continuing to serve them through our nearby branches and digital channels.”
